Duo Vardanyan consists of husband and wife violinists, Tigran and Emily Vardanyan. Both graduates of the Eastman School of Music, they reside in Rochester, New York. They perform a vast array of traditional violin duos as well as arrangements of other pieces in a variety of different musical styles. Always active chamber musicians, they participate in the Cedar Valley Chamber Music Festival annually and perform with the Marini String Ensemble. They both hold faculty positions at the Hochstein School of Music and Dance, where Tigran has a private studio and Emily teaches chamber music.
When not together, Tigran can be found playing full-time with the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra and performing as a soloist around the world. His most influential teachers include Levon Zoryan, Villy Mokazyan, Abram Shtern, Zvi Zeitlin, and Oleh Krysa.
Emily does free-lance work with many organizations, including the Syracuse Symphony Orchestra, the Orchestra of the Southern Finger Lakes, and Geva Theatre, is a member of Quartsemble, and gives solo recitals. Her most influential teachers include Beverly Beheim, Therese Fetter, Frederick Halgedahl, Mikhail Kopelman, and Zvi Zeitlin.
